Trails, Ridges & Cascades
Pisgah National Forest sprawls across the mountains just southwest of Asheville, and the southern portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway runs right through it, offering hundreds of miles of hiking trails, waterfalls, campgrounds, and more. Whether you're a casual day hiker or a seasoned trail runner, there's something here for every skill level.
- Looking Glass Rock: Incredible panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, named for its huge, reflective rock walls
- Pink Beds Loop: An easy five-mile loop through a high mountain valley of meadows and wetlands, mostly flat the whole way and just off Highway 276
- Black Balsam Knob: 360-degree vistas from a grassy, wildflower-covered mountaintop on the Art Loeb Trail
- Looking Glass Falls: 30 feet wide, drops 60 feet; visible right from the road, accessible via a short staircase
- Moore Cove Falls: A local favorite that spills over a tremendous granite shelf you can walk directly behind
- Twin Falls: Located near Brevard in Transylvania County, with the Blue Ridge Parkway nearby
